Groningen Congres Bureau
The GRONINGEN CONGRES BUREAU (GCB) promotes the City of Groningen and the region of the same name as the ideal destination for conventions and meetings. Furthermore the GCB offers advice and support in the organisation of conventions and other meetings. As a non-profit organisation the GCB operates independent of companies and locations. Supported by local- and regional governments, the educational institutions and the business world in the Northern part of The Netherlands, the GCB is the first point of contact for every convention organiser.
The GCB was established in 1996 as an initiative of the University of Groningen (RUG) and the City of Groningen. Besides these two initiators the GCB now has three more partners: the University Medical Centre Groningen (UMCG), the University of Applied Sciences and the Province of Groningen.
The GCB was (co) organiser of about 450 meetings, both at home and abroad and has gained the status of an acknowledged PCO (Professional Congress Organiser)
The GCB actively stimulates organising conventions, preferably in the Northern part of The Netherlands, and has an important function as an adviser (free of charge). Through meetings and work visits, information is offered about conventions, options and opportunities in and around Groningen. The GCB also provides information about several other free services on behalf of its her partners, such as a welcome reception, arranging accommodation, promotion and about a special bus service offer for a reduced fee.
